Ali founded Kinetika in 1997, and is creator of the Imagination Our Nation idea, which she has creatively led from conception to delivery to date. Ali has directed and designed all of Kinetika’s productions including Roads To Freedom, Din Shiru, Yemanja and Tiger Out East.

She has worked internationally with WOMAD, The Callaloo Company in Trinidad for the Atlanta Olympics Opening Ceremonies, the Carnival of Human Rights, Johannesburg, the Kumasi Carnival, Ghana and the Solstice Parade, Seattle, Attakkalari Centre of Performing Arts, Bangalore. In Britain she designed 3 winning bands for Notting Hill Carnival in 1998, 1999 and 2004 as well as designing costumes for the opening of the Millennium Dome.

Leila Jancovich has been Senior Lecturer in the UK Centre for Events Management, Leeds Metropolitan University, for the last two years, where she is Course Leader for the Masters in International Festivals Management and Coordinator of the Yorkshire Festivals Network. Prior to that she has worked extensively as an arts producer, consultant and festivals manager, including working as Programme Development Manager for the Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme in Manchester.

In the 1990’s she was a Co Director of Bhathena Jancovich Arts Management, supporting the development of British performance, with a specialism in Circus and Physical Theatre. From here herself and Chenine Bhathena formed Circelation, a professional development programme for circus artists, which has just held its tenth anniversary programme of work, by inviting internationally acclaimed director Nigel Jamieson.

She is also a Council Member for the Arts Council England, Yorkshire and undertakes research and evaluation for policy makers and arts practitioners.

Convened within a tented village and initiated by Arts Council England, Yorkshire, working in partnership with Bradford Mela and regional artists, Quest is a 2 day exploration of the following key questions:

The Village will include a number of themed tents and, as a delegate, your Quest will be to visit and contribute to each tent at least once during the conference, meet new people and leave inspired with new ideas for the development of the Outdoor Arts sector.
